My friend Michael and I were brainstorming some ways for him to advertise his hypnosis business that would make him distinct from all the other hypnotists. Michael is a really smart, funny guy with a lot of training, but it's difficult to build up a reputation.
I started looking around at what was available on the web about hypnotism. There were two things I noticed. One, no one is giving it away for free. Since most people don't get hypnotized, they wouldn't even know what they're going to get. Wouldn't it make it more likely that someone would pay you if they knew what was going to happen? Two, all hypnotists advertise for the same problems. Just google yourself. They all want to help you lose weight, stop smoking and be more confident. All good, but they all offer the same things.
So, I came up with the idea for Michael to do a podcast where he gives away a whole session. The tone is different than most hypnosis and the topics are much more specific and interesting. Even if you don't have the issue described in the session the podcast is still entertaining. Also, it reveals Michael's personality. After listening, you can tell if he would be a good fit with your sensibilities.
The first episode is up, Fears of a Clown: Overcoming Your Clown Phobia With Hypnosis.

yes, podcasts are excellent for marketing. I myself have done several in the last year or so.

He should do a podcast where he actually hypnotizes the listener into calling him up and making an appointment.
