On May 5th Flickr is sponsoring their 24 hours of Flickr event. The idea is to create a pool of pictures taken by thousands of people on the same day. They will be selecting the best for a book and proceeds from that book will be donated to Medecins Sans Frontieres. My camera will be at my side all day.
Also, Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. If you are in the US, type your zip code into the store locator on their homepage and it will tell you the nearest participating shop. A lot of the free books are aimed at people under 12, so it's also a chance to encourage kids to read. Not that there is any shame in picking up a copy of Astounding Wolfman #1 for yourself.
It is also No Pants Day and CInco de Mayo, so celebrate in the fashion (or lack of fashion) of your choice.
