I have to admit, I took that headline from robots.net. I love that a robot expert has to specify "human" creativity.
The artist he's talking about is Paul Loughridge who makes "custom engineered found objects - Rayguns, Rockets, Robots and more." Check out his flickr account for many fantastic pictures. It's fun just to try and figure out all the objects he used to make each robot.
I may have to contact him and find out how much he charges for those rayguns.
